Map the water balance
Measure make-up water, condensate return, blowdown and feedwater temperature. Confirm water treatment requirements with a qualified specialist. Poor water chemistry can impair heat transfer and equipment integrity.
Evaluate recoverable energy
Review flue-gas conditions, available heat sinks, condensation and corrosion considerations. An economizer proposal needs stack compatibility, controls, drainage and maintenance access, alongside a defensible energy model.
Include balance-of-plant equipment
Feedwater pumps, tanks, deaeration, softening and chemical dosing should be scoped together. Identify redundancy needs and document operating ranges rather than selecting auxiliary equipment from boiler horsepower alone.
